Day 9. . .It was the first full day we had here in Provence, which led to much excitement. We woke up at about 9:30 and ate croissants and french bread that was left on our doorstep. We also ate fresh fruit that we had picked up from a farm stand the day before. We then visited a town only 20 minutes away called L'Isle Sur La Sorgue. There was a canal that rushed through the market place with cafes along the side. The fruit, antiques, and many other stands lined the road with people crowding them. Devon and Isabel stopped at a stand with little flour filled balloon toys that molded into funny faces. The man was very funny and gave us a good bargain for them. We then had a wonderful lunch along the canal. Isabel had fresh tomato and mozzarella with pesto and cured ham, Devon had Supreme Poulet avec pomme frite, and Eric and Brooke had Salade de Luberon, a local salad with fresh vegetables, goat cheese and cured ham.
After lunch was the highlight of our day... the car ride home. Only being 10 minutes away from our apartment, our car broke down. We were driving along a rotary and our car stopped working, so Brooke slowley pulled the car onto the side of the road. Waiting just over an hour for the tow truck to arrive, in 90 degree weather, the mechanic told us that we were out of gas! He took our car to a nearby gas station, filled the tank, and then we were finally able to get home by 7. Eric and Brooke decided that they want to go out to dinner so Devon and Isabel are staying home for a night in. It has been a day to remember, and we are excited for the rest of our visit in Provence.
